Live better everyday
10 Tips to Start Your Day Right
Just a few days ago I had one of those mornings! I felt the seconds flying past me, and the clock mocking me. I couldn’t seem to advance no matter how speedy I was! It also felt like everyone was pushing my buttons! There’s no other way to say it other than, I was in a sh!$ty mood! Been there? I know that it’s impossible not to have days like these every now and then, but having one recently reminded me just how important it is to prepare for a great morning!
When Divorce Happens To Young Children
Little ones under five years of age have a way of expressing their emotional worlds that is paradoxically simple and intricate. When it comes to their experience of divorce and their parents’ separation, they express their internal worlds in ways that all parents separating or divorcing need to keep in mind.
Get Outside: Health Reasons to Enjoy the Outdoors this Summer
We live in a culture of 9-5, 40 hour plus workweeks, coming home at the end of day exhausted before expiring on the couch (and if we find time in there to workout, eat a healthy meal or two, and tend to our pets/kids then we are ahead of the game). It is no wonder many of us do not get outside enough, and in our work-centered lives, we can often forget to make outdoor time a priority.
I’m a Better Mom BECAUSE I Work
It’s taken me close to a decade to realize that I am a better mom BECAUSE I work.
You see, for years, I felt guilty. I couldn’t be the type of mom that most consider to be a “good mom.” I didn’t pick up my boys at school. I wasn’t always available for their school activities. I couldn’t always volunteer in their classroom. I missed a few of their sporting games. And all of this made me feel like a “bad mom.”
The Key To Unlocking Your Child’s Heart
I came across this great post from the folks over at Momastery that shows a great way to helping understand our kids’ lives better. Check it out!
Your Better “May” Calendar
Being organized, motivated, and inspired are all important parts of achieving your best life. The easiest way we’ve found of staying on track is by keeping a monthly calendar where we can see our key events, track our goals, and even motivate ourselves with quotes and affirmations. For years, we’ve published a monthly calendar for our own team. Rather, than keep it to ourselves, we’ve decided to share it with all of you! Especially since we know how helpful this can be. 🙂
Never Give Up
When you quit, you never know what may have been. How close you were. How you would impact the world. Let me give you an example that a friend shared with me that may help you visualize it even better. Portrait of an Achiever…
Fostering a Child: My Family’s Journey to Leaving a Legacy of Love
Two years ago, when my then nine year old son first came to live with us, he asked my husband an interesting question at bedtime. He had been with us for two weeks and he wanted to know why everyone in the family – brothers, sisters, parents – told him that they loved him every day. He was puzzled because he had never had anyone say that to him before, and he said he didn’t really know what it even meant. My husband told him, “it means we will always be here for you, no matter what, that we will always have your back, that our family will always be your family, and that we will love you unconditionally and forever.”
6 Tips To Help You Finally Lose The Weight
Nothin’ better than somebody there to motivate, or somebody to kick your behind when the going gets tough! We all have days we don’t want to exercise. And sometimes those days turn into 3 weeks and before you know it all your good intentions have died off. Grab a coach, grab a friend, somebody you trust. Somebody who will help you and surround you with good things…not the friend that will say “screw it let’s hit the bar!” Do you ever tell your kids “you are who you hang out with”?
The Advantage of Having a Mentor
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the modern-day mentor is “a trusted counselor or guide.” Think of a mentor as someone who knows the ropes of your career path and is willing to share the good and bad of their past experiences so as to help you make informed choices. Consider that a study conducted by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) found that 75% of executives attribute their success in-part to having a mentor.
