Time and again when I ask parents what they wish for their children they respond with “I just want them to be happy”. But how exactly does one do that? The truth is that happiness is a way of being but not a constant. To be happy you must also experience sadness and sometimes as parents we have a hard time tolerating that fact. In any case lets take some time and see what the research tell us about how to be happy.

Over the past few months, I’ve been finding it hard to make really solid progress. Everything I do has felt small and painful. There’s been a lot of uncertainty in my life and finding the energy to move forward was difficult. During these times, there are the things you must do, no questions asked, one way or another they must be done. While these can be tough, there’s something about the mandatory nature that means they happen.

Based on conversations with our clients who have adult children, the odds are pretty high that you could do a better job of letting your kids know what kind of legal documents you already have in place and where your financial accounts are located. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting that you financially undress in front of your children. But it is important for your children to know at which financial institutions, banks, insurance companies and the like, you have accounts.

As a reading teacher I am passionate about reading. I struggled learning to read but I have found a love of reading, and continue to read daily for enjoyment before I go to bed. During this time I let go of the stresses of the day and find an escape in my book.
