Success Is A Journey

Too often, people are quick to say that someone is “lucky” when they have achieved great success.  The truth is, that in 99.9% of the cases, luck had nothing to do with it.  As a matter of fact, I don’t believe in luck.  I believe that luck happens when hard work meets opportunity.  I believe that the so called “lucky” ones are people who saw an opportunity and seized it.  I also believe that “lucky” people are people who work their asses off, no matter how hard it is or how bad life has knocked them down.  They keep working hard, pursuing their dreams, doing what they love.  Then one day, the opportunity of a lifetime comes their way and they seize it.

A good example of this is the story of Arnel Pineda.  The name may not ring a bell to you right away, but I am sure that the band “Journey” does.  Arnel is the new lead singer of the ultra successful 80’s rock band.  The story of how he became the lead singer of Journey is both amazing and inspirational.  It is also an example of how someone followed their dreams and worked hard, despite what seemed to be insurmountable challenges in their life.

A couple of years ago, Arnel was interviewed by John Blackstone of CBS News and shared Arnel’s story with the world in an interview he called “A Summer Song”.    Here is that great video:

As you think about your own life, keep Arnel’s message in your mind and close to your heart:  “Just don’t give up…Don’t Stop Believing!”
