Sex In A Pan

Six Layer Dessert, known by some as “Sex In a Pan” because it’s just that darn good, is a Watson family favourite. One of our traditions is to serve this mouth-watering dessert at our football parties. Luckily in Canada, we celebrate two big football events each year: The Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League’s championship game, held in November, and as our family are big National Football League fans, the Super Bowl the first week of February. Both games are a chance for us to enjoy great food, drinks and dessert with family and friends.
We started serving this dessert when the kids were very young. Through the teenage years we tried to change the name to “Six Layer Dessert”, but the kids already knew it as “Sex In A Pan” so there were a lot of giggles when they talked about the dessert to their friends. No matter what you name it – it’s simply a “to-die-for” treat.
Over time I have simplified some of the steps to make the recipe a bit easier to manage and get the same great results. My adjustments are in brackets. I hope you enjoy serving this at your home. Maybe we will both be serving it in a couple of weeks at our Super Bowl parties!
Six Layer Dessert (or Sex In A Pan)
Crust:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Add 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup nuts (my family does not like nuts in their baking so we omit these) to 1/2 cup melted butter and stir. Press into a 9×13-inch greased pan and bake for about 15 minutes until it is a light brown. Allow to cool.
Filling:
Blend 8 oz softened cream cheese and 1 cup icing sugar together and spread over cooled base.
Whip 1 cup whipping cream/1 L Cool Whip/1 envelope topping until stiff and spread half of it over the cream cheese layer (I use Cool Whip)
Beat together 1 4-serving package instant chocolate pudding and 1 1/2 cup milk for 2 minutes and pour over whipped cream layer
Beat together 1 4-serving package instant vanilla pudding and 1 1/2 cup milk for 2 minutes and pour over chocolate pudding layer
Spread the other half of whipping cream over the vanilla pudding. Garnish with shaved chocolate and let chill overnight. Makes 12 pieces. I have frozen this for later if there are leftovers 😉
Enjoy!
